At least 155 Palestinians were reported killed in a massive attack by the Israeli Air Force on Saturday. The White House did not condemn the raid but called on Israel to avoid civilian casualties.According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, at least 195 Palestinians were killed. The White House response continues the US one-sided support for Israel that virtually guarantees that there can be no peace in the middle east.
For its part, Israel said the strikes would not only continue, but that they would be intensified. These air strikes are unjust attacks by an occupying force against the people in the territories over which it exerts control. While Israel does not have troops deployed in Gaza at this time, it maintains the right to attack at will, and has controlling influence over natural resources and the economy of the area.
While standing against any civilian deaths on either the Palestinian or the Israeli sides, the Communist Party of Indiana CPUSA is partisan for any oppressed people, and stands with the Palestinian people against the continuing attacks by Israel, which occur with the financial and political support of the United States administration.
Neither peace nor Israeli security can be achieved by Israeli bombing of the Palestinian people. Only negotiation and respect for the rights of the Palestinians to self determination can achieve that goal.
Stop all US support for Israeli aggression against the Palestinians. Demand a just resolution of the struggle between the Israeli and the Palestinian peoples that recognizes the rights of the Palestinians to contiguous land, to make East Jerusalem their capital, implements the right of return, and protects their rights as defined under various United Nations resolutions.
